Cadbury celebrates 200 years with “Yours for Generations” Campaign in Kenya

Cadbury, a brand established in 1824 by John Cadbury, is marking its remarkable 200th anniversary with the “Yours for Generations” campaign launch in Kenya. This milestone underscores Cadbury’s deep-rooted presence and affection in Kenyan culture, inviting consumers to reminisce and share their cherished #CadburyMemories.

The launch event, held at Shamba Events in Loresho, Nairobi, was a vibrant celebration of Cadbury’s impact on Kenyan lives. It provided a platform for Kenyans to revisit their fondest memories associated with Cadbury products, from celebrating academic achievements with Cadbury Dairy Milk to enjoying Lunchbar with friends. This campaign not only highlights the brand’s role in various celebrations but also its integration into the daily lives of Kenyans.

Motsamai Pule, Mondelez International Marketing Lead for Rest of Africa, spoke at the event, emphasizing Cadbury’s journey in Kenya. “For over seven decades, Cadbury has become more than just a chocolate brand in Kenya; it has become a cherished staple in Kenyan homes. This journey has been punctuated with moments that celebrate generosity, strengthen family ties, and create unforgettable memories,” he said. Pule further added, “We are delighted to celebrate this significant milestone by integrating the fondest Cadbury stories into the rich narrative of Kenyan heritage.”

The event featured the Cadbury Gallery Exhibition, an engaging walkthrough of Cadbury’s rich history. The exhibition showcased memorabilia and interactive installations, offering attendees a glimpse into the brand’s evolution over the years. Influential Kenyan figures, including Caroline Mutoko, Timothy Kimani (known as Njugush), and Murugi Munyi, shared their personal stories and memories of Cadbury, adding a personal touch to the celebration.

As part of the #CadburyMemories campaign, these influencers and others will continue to share their cherished memories across their social media platforms, encouraging Kenyans to join the celebration. The campaign invites everyone to share their Cadbury stories on the Cadbury Africa website (www.cadbury.africa) through text, voice notes, images, or videos. These stories will be curated and shared on social media, creating a collective portrait of Cadbury’s impact on Kenyan lives.

To commemorate this milestone, Cadbury has also reintroduced eight limited-edition vintage packs of its beloved Cadbury Dairy Milk. These packs, now available in stores across Kenya, showcase iconic designs from different eras, allowing consumers to relive the nostalgia with every purchase. Each vintage design represents a distinct period in Cadbury’s history, from the classic purple and gold wrappers of the 1960s to the bold redesign of the 1980s that symbolized “A Glass and a Half.” These limited-edition packs serve as both collector’s items and reminders of the brand’s enduring presence in Kenya.

Consumers purchasing these vintage packs of Cadbury Dairy Milk (80g or 150g) stand a chance to win exciting prizes, including cash, phones, shopping vouchers, and instant guaranteed airtime. To participate, they need to buy two packs and share the codes inside the wrappers on the Cadbury Africa website. Detailed Terms & Conditions are available on the website.

As Cadbury celebrates its bicentennial, the “Yours for Generations” campaign not only honors its legacy but also invites Kenyans to continue creating sweet memories with Cadbury for generations to come.
