Safaricom Foundation, through its Ndoto Zetu initiative, has equipped two health centres and one secondary school clinic in the counties of Kiambu and Kajiado.
In Kajiado County, Kitengela sub-County Hospital got a fully equipped new-born unit to improve the infant mortality rate and boost its capacity for early detection of challenges in infants.
Safaricom Foundation launches first Ndoto Zetu project in Siaya County
In Kiambu County, Munyu Health Centre received medical equipment, which will bring maternity services closer to the community and will see the maternity wing better able to handle emergencies. The centre got delivery beds, examination couches, examination lamps and hospital beds. Salvation Army Joytown Secondary School in Thika received hospital beds and lab equipment, which will ensure the school has the capacity to handle medical cases without needing to send learners home.
“Health is a major priority for Ndoto Zetu, and we aim to increase access to quality reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health services in Kenya. As a Foundation, we are also working to increase awareness about non-communicable diseases to prevent premature deaths,” said Joseph Ogutu, Chairman, Safaricom Foundation.
Ndoto Zetu is Safaricom Foundation’s flagship philanthropic initiative, which calls on Kenyans to partner with the Foundation to actualise their community’s dreams and aspirations.
Over the next three months, Safaricom Foundation will commission over 400 Ndoto Zetu projects in health, education, and economic empowerment worth KES 100 million, which target two million beneficiaries.
