Most matatus and bus companies plying all routes in Kenya have hiked fares.

This comes after the government’s directive to limit passengers carried to sixty percent.

This directive was aimed at enforcing social distancing in this era of the coronavirus pandemic.

We asked Mpasho readers about their experiences while shuttling around the city. Here is what they said.

As the prices continue to increase, Kenyans have been left to themselves and without choices after matatus reap good for empty space. Matatus have been taking advantage of the situation to hiking fares from double and triple, while some hike the fares and fill all seats.

The government has turned a blind eye to commuters as they suffer in the hands of matatus. The minister said the matatus should understand the situation and not charge extra fares.
