Nairobi, Kenya – World Vision Kenya has launched its 2026–2030 National Strategy and WASH Business Plan. This ambitious roadmap aims to improve the lives of 13.3 million children across 33 counties over the next five years. The strategy was unveiled at a high-level forum in Nairobi, which included government officials, development partners, and civil society members.

The new strategy focuses on building resilience, strengthening child protection systems, promoting inclusive development, and increasing access to essential services such as water, sanitation, hygiene, health, and education. It particularly targets 3.04 million vulnerable children, 343,181 children with disabilities, and those affected by climate change and social exclusion, showing a commitment to help the most marginalized.

The WASH Business Plan, titled ‘Mapping the Blue Thread’, sets a goal to provide adaptive water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions. By 2030, the plan aims to reach 2.27 million children with direct WASH services and expand safe water access for over 1.2 million people in 18 counties through innovation, partnerships, and strengthened systems.

World Vision Kenya urges nation to stand up for children’s rights

This strategy comes at a crucial time, as many children in Kenya still face significant challenges. Nearly 47% live in multidimensional poverty, with 1.1 million malnourished and 2.8 million out of school. Furthermore, repeated droughts and floods displace around 300,000 children annually, increasing their risk of hardship and social exclusion.

World Vision Kenya believes the 2026–2030 strategy marks a shift from short-term relief efforts to long-term systems that protect children and support communities. It emphasizes the importance of collaboration among the government, civil society, communities, and the private sector to drive meaningful change.

Through this strategy, World Vision seeks to ensure that children in Kenya not only survive but also thrive, building resilient communities prepared for future challenges while giving every child the chance to reach their full potential.
