In a surprising turn of events, prominent blogger and communicator Pauline Njoroge has declined an enticing offer to become a blogger aligned with President Ruto’s camp.
Despite the Kenya Kwanza government’s tempting proposal of a monthly salary of Sh 500,000, Njoroge has chosen to remain loyal to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and uphold her principles.
Njoroge, known for her outspoken nature, revealed that she had been approached by government officials over the past three months, urging her to join their ranks as a social media strategist.
However, her unwavering opposition to Ruto during the previous election campaign prevented her from accepting their offer.
She firmly believes that Ruto has not proven her initial criticisms wrong and remains skeptical of his ability to deliver on his promises.
“I strongly opposed Ruto during last year’s campaign. I believed everything I said he was, and as we speak, he has not proved me wrong. So, how can money change this conviction. How can I be part of a people who look for every opportunity to badmouth Uhuru Kenyatta, and keep using him as an excuse as to why they are unable to deliver for Kenyans yet they are the ones in power?,” she explained.
Njoroge also criticized a fellow blogger employed as a social media influencer in State House. She accused him of lacking grammatical proficiency and relying on ghostwritten content to counter her claims about seeking government positions.
”There is this HNIB (Hustler National Intelligence Bureau – an unofficial blogging camp) fellow who was employed in State House a few months ago as a social media influencer, but can hardly write one grammatically correct sentence unless it’s drafted for him. To counter my exposé yesterday, he posted something drafted for him, claiming that Wahome Thuku and I had been seeking government jobs/engagements. After he was told off on Facebook, he pulled down the post and took the poor spin to Twitter,” Ms Njoroge said.
Moreover, Njoroge confronted Silas Chepkeres Jakakimba, a former aide to Raila Odinga who has recently switched allegiance to support the government.
She questioned Jakakimba’s claims regarding Ruto’s efforts to address the financial challenges left by the previous administration.
