Over the past week, Kenyans have mourned the passing of NTV Journalist Rita Tinina, who succumbed to severe pneumonia.

Details revealed that she left behind a daughter, while information about her husband remained undisclosed.

However, according to a death and funeral announcement seen by this reporter, Tinina was the cherished daughter of the late Dominic and the late Mary Yiapan.

The announcement stated, “She was the mother of Mia Malaikah and the loving partner of Robert Nagila.”

“She was also deeply cherished as a sister-in-law of Timothy, Roshen, Belmont, Agnes, and Macharia.”

Who is Robert Nagila?

Robert has been a journalist for 10 years, currently covering the Eastern DRC conflict between the M23 rebels and Government forces, displacing over 500,000 people.

He has reported from the Somalia conflict zones, Mogadishu, and Kismayu, where Al-Shabaab militants have clashed with the transitional government for years. A new government, supported by African Union forces, has recaptured most of the lost territory from the militants and is advancing in other areas of the country.

Robert has also covered the referendum and independence in South Sudan, Boko Haram’s insurgency aiming to establish an Islamist State in Northern Nigeria, and the 2007 post-election violence in Kenya.

He has exposed corruption in the Kenyan government, including the drug trade in Nairobi, and reported on the Goldenberg scandal, Kenya’s largest corruption case.
