The highly competitive general election that was conducted on Tuesday has left major political heavyweights reeling on the floor.

Below is the list:

1). Bonnie Khalwale

He lost to ODM’s Wycliffe Oparanya. The two were competing to become Kakamega Governor.

2). Isaac Rutto

 

Provisional results from IEBC show Ruto, who is also the Chama Cha Mashinani party leader, with 83,601 votes against National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso’s 172,389.

3). Hassan Omar

He lost badly to ODM’s Hassan Joho in the race for Mombasa’ gubernatorial race.

4). Peter Munya

He lost to Jubilee’s Kiraitu Murungi. He was contesting on a PNU ticket.

5). Ababu Namwamba

He lost to ODM’s Raphael Wanjala. Wanjala is a former MP. Ababu was contesting on a Labour Party ticket. He has since disputed the results.

6). Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma

He was defending his seat as an independent candidate lost to former minister Anyang’ Nyong’o.

7). William Kabogo

He lost with a margin of over 500,000 votes to former Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu. By 6pm yesterday, Waititu had 738,735 votes against Kabogo’s 198,655.

8). Julius Malombe

The Kitui Governor lost to Charity Ngilu. He came in third behind the former cabinet secretary and David Musila who came in second.

9). Martha Karua

She was defeated by former Devolution Minister Anne Waiguru. She was contesting on a Narc Kenya ticket.
