Nyong’o clinches Kisumu gubernatorial seat,as incumbent declares himself a winner

Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o is the Kisumu county ODM gubernatorial winner after trouncing his two closest rivals in the just concluded county primaries.

The county returning officer Tom Okongo declared Nyong’o the winner at the official county tallying center,Thurdibuoro secondary school on Tuesday night.

Nyong’o got 164,110 votes against his closest opponents, incumbent Jack Ranguma,91,480 and Hezron Mc’Ombewa 62,670.

It was a sweet victory for the Kisumu senator who comes from Seme clan.The two other opponents hail from the larger Kano clan.

However in unprecedented twist of events,the county deputy returning officer Richard Kiyondi declared Ranguma the winner of the now hotly contested seat sending the whole county elections board into disarray.

Outgoing Nyando MP Fred Outa clinched the Kisumu senator seat.Outa managed 197,820.

Former Interim Independent and Boundaries Reviews Commission Commissioner Rosa Buyu beat the Rose Nyamunga to win Kisumu women representative position.
