More than 5,000 stakeholders from across the packaging, printing, plastics, and processing value chain are expected to gather in Nairobi from 3–5 March 2026 for the 10th editkmarking a decade of advancing industrial innovation and manufacturing capability across the region.
The exhibition, to be held at the Sarit Expo Centre, will bring together manufacturers, technology providers, suppliers, policymakers, investors, and innovators, reinforcing Propak East Africa’s position as the region’s leading platform for industry collaboration, technology transfer, and market development.
The event comes at a time when Africa’s packaging industry is entering a period of accelerated growth. The continent’s packaging market is projected to grow from approximately USD 45.15 billion in 2025 to about USD 58.46 billion by 2031, representing an estimated 4.4 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR), driven by rapid urbanisation, expanding FMCG markets, and the continued rise of e-commerce.
Within this growth story, East Africa is emerging as one of the continent’s most dynamic packaging markets. Kenya alone is forecast to be among the fastest-growing packaging markets in Africa, with growth estimated at approximately 5.8–5.9 percent CAGR, reflecting its role as a regional commercial and logistics hub.
Organised by Montgomery Group, Propak East Africa has grown into the annual meeting point where regional manufacturers connect with global technology providers, helping bridge the gap between accelerating market demand and local industry capability. The event continues to play a critical role in supporting localisation, strengthening supply chains, and positioning East Africa as an emerging production and investment hub.
Increasing participation by international machinery suppliers, technology providers, and solution companies at Propak East Africa reflects rising confidence in the region not just as a consumer market, but as a viable production and investment destination.
This year’s edition will place strong focus on sustainability, regulatory readiness, and innovation, as packaging becomes increasingly central to consumer trust, product safety, and regional trade, particularly as East Africa deepens economic integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Speaking ahead of the event, Angela Kinyua, Managing Director, Montgomery Group East Africa, said the 10th edition represents an important milestone for the industry.
“The packaging industry in East Africa is evolving rapidly, driven by changing consumer expectations, sustainability requirements, and regulatory developments. Propak East Africa provides a platform where businesses can access practical solutions, explore new technologies, and build partnerships that support long-term industry growth. As organisers, we are proud to be delivering this landmark 10th edition,” she said.
Ms. Kinyua added: “We would like to rally all stakeholders in the packaging, printing and processing industries to show up. We have a lot in store. This year’s exhibition will feature live technology demonstrations, new product launches, and packaging design innovations. Attendees will gain direct exposure to the technologies shaping the future of the sector, while connecting with global and regional industry leaders driving the next phase of industrial development.”
Among the highlights this year will be the showcase of first-of-their-kind technologies entering the African market, including 100% compostable packaging solutions, recyclable mono-layer packaging innovations, and advanced digital embellishment systems used to enhance brand differentiation.
The conference programme will feature high-level speakers including Regina Ombam, Principal Secretary for Trade at Kenya’s Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, and Ambassador Ahmed Alex Omah, President of the World Packaging Organisation, highlighting the event’s role as a platform where industry and policy intersect to support sector growth.
The three-day programme will open with the Eastern African Packaging Summit, focusing on sustainability, compliance, and regional trade opportunities. Day two will feature a specialised Printing Masterclass delivered by Printing SA, covering hybrid inkjet printing, expanded colour gamut workflows, and AI-enabled design technologies. The final day will spotlight food and beverage processing, with discussions on dairy innovation, natural ingredients, beverage authenticity, and SME financing.
As Propak East Africa marks its 10th edition, the event is expected to help shape the next decade of packaging and processing development in East Africa, supporting the transition toward more localised, technology-enabled, and sustainable manufacturing ecosystems.
