A man in Kirinyaga has hacked his lover to death over claims she was unfaithful. The man is alleged to have confronted the mother of four on Tuesday morning in Kiarukungu village, Kirinyaga County and accused her of having affairs with other men.
After a bitter exchange, the man reportdely dragged the woman outside and slashed her with a machete. He then ran away when the woman screamed out for help. Neighbours who came to the resuce caught up with the man and beat him up before he was rescued by the village elder and members of the Nyumba Kumi initiative.
He was handed over to police officers at the Wang’uru Police Station.
Area residents said the man, a rice farmer, used to visit Ms Kanini who was a mother of four every evening before going to his home.
Mwea East OCPD Mutoro Kizito said the man is likely to be charged with murder.
