Former KTN reporter Johana Chacha has embarked on a new chapter in his life after being hired by Second Lady Dorcas Rigathi to join her media team.

This opportunity comes after Chacha successfully graduated from a rehabilitation program aimed at addressing alcohol and drug addiction.

During a speech at the Mpesa Foundation Academy, Second Lady Dorcas Rigathi expressed her pride in Chacha’s transformation.

She emphasized the importance of initiatives like the rehabilitation program in empowering individuals to overcome challenges such as alcoholism and substance abuse.

“I have seen when I am going round the country saving my boy child and they tell you it started as a joke (Alcoholism, Drugs and substance abuse). I have one who is standing behind there and he was employed in KTN and many other places but I found him in the gutter,” Pastor Dorcas stated.

Chacha’s journey to rehabilitation began when he joined the program amidst thousands of other youths struggling with similar issues.

He underwent intensive rehabilitation and participated in dignified future classes, ultimately emerging as a testament to the program’s success.

Reflecting on his past struggles, Chacha revealed that his battle with substance abuse had led to his termination from KTN in 2016.

On the last day when I was fired, I had failed to show up at work for three days. When I got into the office, I was unable to explain myself because I had been caught red-handed. They had even tried to look for me at home during the period I was unavailable,” he recalled at the time.

“Once I was fired, I even started drinking more because I saw that I had no direction in life. My childhood dream was cut short.”

However, Chacha’s determination to turn his life around led him to the rehabilitation program, where he received support and guidance on his journey to recovery.

Through various strategies, including cutting off communication with negative influences, Chacha regained control of his life and found a sense of purpose.
