ERC exposes stations selling adulterated fuel

    The affected stations were found to be selling super petrol and diesel contaminated with kerosene. The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) on Friday published a list of 37 fuel stations that have been selling adulterated fuel to unsuspecting motorists.

    Mombasa County had the highest number of stations selling the illegal fuel, with six petrol stations there closed. The stations are:

    1. Al-Mursalat (Jomvu),
    2. Bassawad (Kisauni),
    3. Swafaa (Kisauni),
    4. Eagle (Likoni),
    5. Liwatoni (Ganjoni),
    6. Gateway Inn (Miritini).

    Two fuel stations were closed in Nairobi:

    1. Realoil service station in Kayole,
    2. Mwireri Investment filling station in Utawala.

    Earlier in March, the following stations had blacklisted for selling adulterated fuel:

    3. Roy Hauliers – Nairobi
    4. Shell Gatundu service station – Kiambu
    5. Kenol Ruiri service station – Kiambu
    6. Top fuel service station – Kiambu
    7. Oillibya Petju Nanyuki service station – Laikipia
    8. Smart filling Station – Meru
    9. George Araya Mikinduri filling station -Meru
    10. Rehoboth filling station – Kakamega
    11. Quality Pteroleum service station – Tharaka Nithi
    12. Mwanainchi filling station -Kisii
    13. Togo filling station – Macahakos
    14. Maningi filing station – Migori
    15. Uriri filling station – Migori
