The burial of 67-year-old Samwel Nzuki, who gained notoriety for his relationship with socialite Manzi Wa Kibera, took place in a private ceremony at Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi.

The absence of Manzi Wa Kibera at the funeral stirred curiosity, especially given the attention their relationship had garnered.

The decision to keep Nzuki’s burial private was made by his family, who opted for a modest sendoff attended solely by close relatives and a few acquaintances.

Chali wa Kibera, Manzi Wa Kibera’s manager, provided insight into the family’s choice, stating that they wished to avoid media attention and therefore did not invite press representatives.

“I just want to inform you that Mzee Nzuki was buried today at Lang’at Cemetery. There was no media presence because the family didn’t want media attention. They just wanted to give him a decent sendoff off cameras. Manzi wa Kibera and I were not invited and I totally understand. They must have thought we would go there with the press. We will find our own time to go and visit the grave. This they agreed,” Chali wa Kibera said..

Manzi Wa Kibera and Nzuki’s relationship, which ended in May 2023, was marred by allegations of infidelity.

Manzi Wa Kibera accused Nzuki of cheating with other women, citing his secretive behavior with his phone.

Conversely, Nzuki claimed that Manzi Wa Kibera exploited him financially and abandoned him when he was financially depleted.

Nzuki died on April 21, 2024.
