The Political Parties Dispute Tribunal has nullified Wavinya Ndeti’s win in the Wiper Party nominations for Machakos governor.
The tribunal has subsequently ordered for fresh nominations which are to be conducted within 48 hours.
Ndeti got 299,312 votes against Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala’s 4,663 in the nominations. However, Kiala had boycotted the nomination exercise.
He had obtained a court order barring Wiper from conducting the primaries since the party and Ndeti’s CCU agreed that she should get the ticket.
He also said Ndeti was not a member of Wiper at the time of her nomination but the tribunal ruled she was a valid member.
The winner will face off with incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua who will vie on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket.
