President William Ruto nominated Dorcas Oduor to be the new Attorney General.
She will negotiate, draft and review local and international instruments, treaties and agreements affecting the government and its institutions.
Furthermore, as an Attorney General, Oduor will support the rule of law and protect the public interest.
“The presidential nominations as transmitted to Parliament pertain to the position of the Attorney-General nominated Dorcas Agik Oduor, SC, EBS, OGW, for appointment to the position of the Attorney-General of the Republic of Kenya
“Senior Counsel Dorcas Oduor has vast legal experience spanning over thirty years of practice within the public sector,” Ruto announced on Tuesday.
Oduor is a High Court of Kenya lawyer with a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management (UoN), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree (UoN) and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
She is currently employed as Secretary of Public Prosecutions at the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Oduor has previously worked as Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and Head of Economic, International, and Emerging Crimes Departments (ODPP).
She also served as the Deputy Chief State Counsel and State Counsel for the (Department of Public Prosecution) at the then-Office of the Attorney General.
Oduor has served on a number of agencies and commissions, including Chairperson of the Board of Review on the Mentally Insane (Criminal Psychiatric), Assisting Counsel Akiwumi Commission on Land Clashes, and Assisting Counsel Bosire Commission on the Goldenberg Affair.
Additionally, she has served as the Assisting Counsel Kiruki Commission on Artur Brothers, Joint Secretary Police Reform Commission (Ransley Commission), Chair of the Board of Criminal Psychiatrists (on behalf of the Attorney General) and a member of the National Task Force on Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, among other positions.
