In today’s technologically-advanced world, our lives almost entirely depended on electrical power with almost all gadgets relying on electricity.
Without a generator, power blackouts which at times last up to a whole day can mean loss of business for some, loss of stored foods, and in the least, boredom to many.
The first way you can find out about a planned blackout is visiting the official Kenya Power website then head over to the “Customer Service” tab.
When the pointer is placed on the “Customer Service” tab a drop-down menu will appear. Click on the Planned Power Interruptions.
The interruptions are listed according to date with the latest being found at the top. When you click on the date you are interested in you will get a PDF document showing you all the affected areas.
The second way one can get notified about planned interruptions is by heading over to Kenya Power’s official twitter and Facebook pages @KenyaPower_Care.
All Kenya Power outages are posted on the handle with a photo of all the affected areas per county, including the length of the blackout.
You can also subscribe to their notifications to ensure that you are alerted whenever they publish a new tweet and check if your area is affected.
Still, on Twitter you can manually search on the planned outages by typing “@KenyaPower_Care shutdowns” on the search tab then filtering the tweets by clicking on “latest”.
The third way you can find out a blackout is by checking the newspaper which advertises the power outages including the areas affected.
If your whole neighborhood is already affected by a power blackout you can report the outage to 95551 in order to get assistance.
