14 years on, the 200m and 100m world records set by Usain Bolt during the 2009 Berlin World Championships still stand and Bolt is certain the 100m record is still here to stay.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with World Athletics, Bolt revealed that he thinks the 200m world record might be broken sooner than people think.
He, however, noted that breaking the 100m world record will be harder because the race is a bit more technical. The 200m world record currently stands at 19.19 while the 100m world record is 9.58.
“I’m not worried about any of them…I really don’t know. I think the 100m is going to be harder because it’s quicker and if you make a mistake during the race you’re not going to break it. It’s also a bit more technical,” Bolt said.

The multiple world champion retired in 2017 having won 11 world titles in the 100m, 200m, and the 4x100m relay races.
He had also won eight Olympic titles over the 100m, 200m, and the 4x100m relay. He revealed that his main goal as an athlete was always to leave a legacy behind.
“My main aim was always to dominate and that’s what I did. Every year and every season, I was always on point, working hard and turning heads.
For me it was perfect. It has always been beautiful for me…the energy and the vibes from people,” he said.
