Two prisons officers were on December 26, beaten up by boda boda operators near Falcon Bar along the Eastern Bypass at Ruiru, Kiambu County, Citizen Digital reported.

The two officers have since been identified as Joseph Maina Muriithi and George Gichoni Njuguna, both attached to the Industrial area remand prison.

According to the report, the duo allegedly arrested and handcuffed a suspect before he ran off and alerted other boda boda operators in the vicinity.

The riders then tracked down the officers and beat them up. A boda boda rider who was passing-by witnessed the incident and proceeded to report the matter to the police.

Maina and Gichoni suffered multiple injuries and were admitted at the Ruiru sub-county hospital prior to being transferred to Thika level 5 hospital for further treatment.

Police officers based in Ruiru disclosed that they had launched formal investigations into the incident.

In a similar incident, on October 3, a traffic police officer was involved in a similar incident when an angry tout beat him up during an ugly confrontation.
