TSC Jobs: The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced recruitment of 8,672 teachers to support 100 per cent transition drive from primary to secondary schools launched in January.

The development is expected to ease pressure on current secondary school teachers, which chief executive Nancy Macharia said was too much.

TSC Jobs deployment

About 7,672 teachers will be deployed to secondary schools while 1,000 will be posted in primary schools against a combined shortage of 155,000 tutors.

The TSC had asked the government for Sh. 8.3billion to recruit 12,626 secondary school teachers annually, translating to 50,504 teachers at the end of the period.

It had also asked for more Sh. 16billion to support the recruitment of 68,000 intern teachers.

TSC Jobs application deadline

Those interested in the positions have until May 25 to submit their applications.

“Those who had applied earlier and were successful must apply afresh since the merit list for 2018/2019 financial year will be generated. Successful candidates will be deployed to serve in any part of the country,” said Mrs Macharia.
