Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has firmly rebuffing a fan’s suggestion that she should consider polygamy.
This incident comes amidst unverified rumors of discord in her relationship with Sam Mburu, her husband.
Kihika and Mburu’s relationship has been under scrutiny, particularly after Mburu attended his son’s graduation ceremony alongside his ex-wife.
The couple reportedly met during the 2013 General Election when Kihika returned to Kenya after a lengthy stint in the United States.
Mburu played a significant role in Kihika’s political journey, supporting her bid for the Nakuru senatorial seat in the 2017 General Election by bankrolling her campaigns.
Their engagement in November 2020 marked a milestone in their relationship, celebrated with a colorful ceremony in Laikipia County.
The recent exchange on social media occurred when Kihika responded to a tweet praising women’s leadership by suggesting that more women should hold political office.
“Thank You ML @KIMANIICHUNGWAH for recognizing the great strides women leaders are making in their counties, constituencies.”
In response, a netizen implied that women leaders should not accept being second wives, prompting Kihika’s swift retort: “You must be confusing me with your mother!”
