Simba SC, the Tanzanian giants, are actively seeking a replacement for their Kenyan defender, Joash Onyango, who has been linked with a move away from the club.

According to reports, Simba SC has identified Thierry Manzi, a defender from Rwanda, as the potential replacement.

Breaking: Joash Onyango to leave Simba, set to join FKF-PL side

Thierry Manzi, who is currently in Belgium negotiating with local teams, has confirmed Simba SC’s interest in him.

”It is the registration period so if you have done well then you must be spoken to, I have neither accepted nor rejected the news about Simba SC but the final answer is time.” He said.

Simba is keen to rebuild their squad for the upcoming season in the Premier League, the Confederation Cup ‘ASFC,’ and the CAF-coordinated International Championship.

While Manzi is considering other options, Simba SC has started persuading him to return to Dar es Salaam for further discussions and a potential signing.

Simba SC is expected to undergo a major squad overhaul, with significant departures and arrivals of new players.

The motivation behind this exercise stems from the team’s failure to clinch the Mainland Premier League title for two consecutive seasons, losing out to arch-rivals Yanga SC

. They also had a disappointing campaign in the CAF Champions League, which adds to their determination to strengthen the squad.

Thierry Manzi, who previously played for Ryon Sport under Coach Robertinho, has refrained from providing detailed comments on the registration issue at the moment.

However, he has hinted at the existence of several potential deals. Simba SC is one of the pioneer clubs for the CAF Super League, scheduled to commence in August this year.

As a result, they require a well-balanced and deep squad to avoid exhaustion in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, rumors suggest that Joash Onyango could be making a return to Gor Mahia in Kenya or potentially joining Singida Big Stars in Tanzania.

Earlier reports indicated that the former Western Stima centre-back had handed in a transfer request, and the recent speculation surrounding Manzi could indicate Onyango’s imminent departure.

Onyango, who joined Simba SC in 2020, initially became a regular starter for the team. However, he has faced criticism recently due to error-prone performances, prompting the club to explore potential alternatives.
