The Railway Training Institute (RTI) celebrated a significant double milestone this week. It marked 70 years of academic excellence and held its 62nd Graduation Ceremony. The event underscored the institution’s long-standing role in developing human resources for Kenya’s changing transport and logistics sectors. During the ceremony, 1,135 graduates received Certificates and Diplomas.
They joined a network of thousands of alumni who have supported the nation’s railway systems, supply chains, and broader transport industries over the last seven decades.

In his address, RTI Director Asava Kadima praised the Class of 2026 for their strong dedication. He described their graduation as not just an academic success but also a personal achievement. He highlighted that they stood before him not just as students who passed their exams but as individuals who overcame the challenges of rigorous preparation.
He encouraged the new professionals to let integrity guide their actions as they enter a competitive job market. He reminded them that their new qualifications carry a deep social responsibility. He stressed that while they came to campus filled with ambition, they would leave with character. Their certificates and diplomas, he noted, are not just pieces of paper, but quiet contracts of trust between them and the society that awaits their contributions.

9 Cherongis, Chairperson of the RTI Board of Governors, shared similar sentiments. She expressed great pride in the institution’s achievements and its connection to national development goals. She remarked that it was a proud day for RTI as they recognized the 1,135 students moving into the professional world. She emphasized that the board is committed to producing skilled professionals who can meet the evolving demands of the logistics industry.
As the transport sector continues to be crucial for Kenya’s economic growth, the ceremony highlighted RTI’s ongoing mission: to equip the next generation with the practical skills, discipline, and industry-specific knowledge needed to keep the country advancing.
