Lupita Nyong’o is a trend setter when it comes to acting. From acting in Kenyan theaters to being an international actress Lupita is living the dream.

She is a Kenyan-Mexican actress and an international filmmaker who is well known for her academy awards.

Lupita, who is daughter to Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyongo, gained popularity in 2013 after starring in the feature film historical drama 12 Years A Slave where she played the role of Patsy.

1. Black panther

Lupita Nyong’o plays as Nakia Wakanda’s CIA member and the movie received so many nominations for the Oscars thus being nominated for seven Academy Awards and in those nominations winning three.

Black Panther is a 2018 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.

2. ‘Us’ Movie

Lupita is really unstoppable as she can switch up roles in any character that she is given in a movie.

This is seen in the 2019 production of the ‘US’ Movie which is a horror movie where the movie is about a family as they are terrorized by a group of people who look exactly like them.

3. Star Wars

Lupita Nyong’o plays as Maz Kanata in the new “Star Wars” trilogy which was produced in 2015. Even though it is in motion pictures, her involvement was definitely recognized in the Disney film.

All of Hollywood is definitely rooting for Lupita and she definitely gave the fans a run for their money.

4. 12 years a slave

Lupita Nyong’o in 12 years a slave which was produced in 2013 plays as Patsey, although she takes on a supporting role in the film. However, her role is one that you can not forget even after you finish the film.

12 Years” was nominated for seven Golden Globes including Best Picture, four SAG Awards and seven Spirit Awards, among others.

This is one movie that made Lupita win an Oscar.

5. Queen of Katwe

This was a movie that was shot in Katwe, a slum in Kampala Uganda.

The movie is about a young girl who comes from a poor family and her mother which is the role Lupita played, struggles against everything and anything to not only put the food on the table but to also enrol her and her brother in school.

6. Jungle book

The 2016 film where is a fantasy movie where Lupita Nyong’o acts as stars as mother wolf Raksha in the film.

The voice over in this film by Lupita not only shows us how flexible and diverse she is in the film industry, but it also shows us how talented a person she is.

Lupita Nyong’o plays Ayira, a waitress hustling to rise up the social ladder in Shuga in the series which was produced in 2008.  Shuga is a television series set in Nairobi. It is about HIV/AIDS and the struggle that city women and men go through to get to the top of their careers.
