The 2019 KCPE results released on Monday, November 18, by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha were well received by pupils, candidates, and teachers of Precious Talents School.
KCPE candidates of the Dagoreti based institution faced a myriad of challenges after they were forced to shift to other schools after a classroom collapsed in September killing seven pupils.
According to Nation, pupils of the institution performed well in the KCPE exams with a number of them attaining more than the coveted 400 out of 500 marks.
Grace Achieng Lwoka, Nicole Sangwera Sianyo and Martin Mwangi Yiminyi scored 408, 405 and 402 marks respectively.
The three pupils were among candidates who were transferred to Ngong Forest Primary School, Riruta Satellite Primary School, and Jamhuri Primary School after their school was shut down.
In the Monday afternoon press conference, Magoha stated that parents would know the secondary schools to which the KCPE candidates would be placed in by December 2.
Magoha further added that the Form One selection process was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 19.
“By December 2, every child who sat KCPE 2019 will know what school they will join. Ksh 8 Billion has been put to improve infrastructure in high school and primary school,” he announced.
Another promise the former Knec CEO made was that the government would roll out secondary school scholarships for pupils from 30 disadvantaged counties.
Magoha stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta had directed his ministry to also provide scholarships to learners residing in disadvantaged areas such as slums, arid and semi-arid areas.
The Education CS also stated that the government would avail textbooks of grade four pupils to all public schools before December 17.
He expressed delight at the results that showed girls were competing more favorably better with boys as compared to the previous year with a male candidate emerging the best performer.
“The top candidate was Master Andy Michael Munyiri 440 of Damacrest Schools in Thogoto, 3 candidates tied in the second position, Flavian Onyango of Chakol girls, June Cheptoo Koech of Sangalo central primary school and Sean Michael Ndung’u of Kitengela International school scoring 439 marks,” Magoha revealed.
