Oduor delights in Carabao Cup progression

Kenyan international Clarke Oduor has expressed his delight at sealing qualification for the second round of the Carabao after edging out Accrington Stanley in the first round on Tuesday evening.

Odour’s Bradford City FC qualified for the second round, where they will face Wrexham away in the second round on August 29th.

The game against Accrington ended 1-1 in regulation and extra time and had to be settled from the penalty spot, where the visitors emerged 4-1 winners.

Alex Pattison opened the scoring for Bradford just before the interval, before substitute Josh Andrews equalized in the 66th minute with his first touch of the game to ensure that the match went to post-game spot kicks.

Bradford scored all four of their penalties through Andy Cook, Alex Gilliead, Jamie Walker, and Oduor. Only Jack Nolan converted for Accrington.

The Bantams will now face fellow FKF Division Two side Wrexham in the next round, where they’ll be hoping to edge out the ‘Hollywood’ club.

In an interview with the club website, Oduor expressed his delight after progressing to the second round.

“I feel buzzing; it is always good to win, no matter the circumstances. Obviously, it did not go to plan on Saturday against Crawley, and we needed to bounce back“.

He further lauded his team’s show of character after conceding the equalizer and during the penalty shootout.

We came here knowing we had to win to kickstart our season, and we did that. I think we did step up, to be honest. We started the game well, and even when we conceded, it can be easy to let your head drop.

We stuck to it, and the back three remained solid. I am proud of how we continued to threaten and finished the game off in a penalty shootout. We showed great character. By sticking together, we ground out the victory.“.

The Bantams now turn their attention to this weekend’s league game against Colchester City.
