Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on Thursday appeared to go on an offensive against journalist at Nairobi’s Bomas of Kenya.

Governor Mutua who was overseeing the rehearsal for the launch of his Maendeleo Chap Chap party ordered his guards to ‘nyonga’ journalists ad ‘tupa’ them outside.

“Nyonga hao, watupe nje (strangle, throw them out),” the Governor said.

Later in an apology, he clarified that “nyonga” was used to  mean “grab their shirts…”

The governor claimed that he was chasing away “certain people who are not supposed to be here”.
