Following the death of Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru on Tuesday morning theories have emerged that he may have been assassinated.
These theories have been anchored by reports of a mysterious eye witness who happens to have witnessed both the freak accident of Governor Gakuru and the chopper clash at Lake Nakuru last month.
Then came the alleged conflicting versions of what actually caused the accident. The first was from the police who said the Dr. Gakuru’s car tyre had burst. Then the driver and the controversial eyewitness said the vehicle had swerved to avoid hitting a careless boda boda rider causing the driver to lose control.
Another log associated with popular logger Robert Alai has also claimed that Dr. Gakuru had fallen out with a former powerful ally and was politically under siege. “Bad blood had brewed between the late County boss and his ally turned nemesis Engineer Kinyua Kimuri who until the time of his (Gakuru)swearing in was his right hand man,” Kahawa Tungu reported.
Then here is what popular blogger and lawyer Wahome Thuku said on the assassination theories:
“HEADING to Nyeri early today, I slowed down at the spot where Dr Gakuru crashed. I made a turn over the bridge to approach the scene in the same way he did, as if heading back to Thika. Then my initial thought was overruled. The car did not hit the guard rail from the end. Infact the end of the rail is well secured. It hit the rail from the middle. Actually it had already covered about 80meters of the the rail before touching it. The car hit the rail and dismantled it at one joint so that one part entered through the front. That killed the governor. If that did not happen the car would have reached a hill in 5 seconds and slowed down. So any assassination theory goes with the wind.”
He later posted the following in regard to the late Governor’s postmortem results”
“Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru died of excessive bleeding. That is the finding of a postmortem conducted today at the Lee Funeral Home by Dr Johansen Oduor.
The PM was carried out from 8am to 2pm in presence of family rep and CID officers
The confidential PM report containing full details of the injuries suffered by the late Gakuru, will be given to the family tomorrow. Part of it will be made public before midday.”
He then conluded on Thursday morning:
“SEEN alot of articles about how governor Gakuru may have been mishandled at the scene, emergency response and all that. May be may be not. Well the Postmortem was conducted yesterday by Dr Oduor in the presence of about 10 other people. Dr Oduor explaining step by step for hours.
Its good to accept events. From details of that PM, the governor had zero chance of making it. Iam not a doctor though. RIP Dr.”
