Nine suspected criminals, among them adults and juveniles, are currently on the loose after escaping from Isiolo Police Station in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
Reports say that the nine, all with pending criminal charges, escaped at around 4 am after allegedly breaking the lock to their holding cell.
They then managed to flee from the precinct under unclear circumstances.
Sentry officers and police manning the OB desk reportedly did not notice that the nine were missing until hours after their escape despite the fact that the holding cells are adjacent to the OB desk.
Confirming the incident, Isiolo Sub-County Police Commander William Kiambi told Citizen Digital that police have since launched a manhunt in a bid to re-arrest the suspects.
He added that police are currently investigating how the criminals broke the lock to their holding cells and escaped unnoticed despite the presence of sentry and OB desk officers.
