Nick Mwendwa back in office as Court dismisses Sh38m fraud case

The embattled president of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Nick Mwendwa, has been cleared of fraud charges amounting to Sh38 million after a Kiambu Senior Principal Magistrate dismissed the case on Wednesday.

The case was filed against Mwendwa by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji, but the court ruled that the charges were unfounded and unconstitutional.

The magistrate, Wilson Rading, stated that the charges resulted from an inconclusive probe conducted by a committee appointed by former Sports Cabinet Secretary, Amina Mohammed.

Mwendwa’s lawyers had asked the court to terminate the case, arguing that the charges were an affront to his fundamental and constitutional rights.

The lawyers presented evidence to support their claim that the charges were fatally defective, which convinced the magistrate to intervene and protect the abuse of the court process.

Following the ruling, Mwendwa’s lawyers expressed their satisfaction with the outcome and praised the court for its impartiality. Mwendwa himself said that he felt vindicated by the verdict and vowed to continue his work at the Football Kenya Federetion.
