Nancy Wekesa: Nursing Graduate Making Sh 500 per Day Working at a Car Wash in Kapenguria

In recent times, many Kenyans have struggled to secure desirable jobs despite graduating from various universities and colleges.

Such is the story of Nancy Nekesa.

Nekesa, a trained nurse who graduated from Kapenguria, found herself unexpectedly working in the car wash sector to make ends meet.

Despite her qualifications, she currently earns an average of Sh500 per day at a local car wash.

During an interview, Nekesa shared her journey, highlighting the sacrifices made by her parents to ensure her education.

Despite their efforts, she entered the job market only to confront the harsh reality of unemployment.

Forced to prioritize survival, she accepted any job opportunity that came her way, demonstrating the adage that “beggars can’t be choosers.”

Despite her challenging circumstances, Nekesa remains resilient and determined to pursue her dreams. She endeavors to save up from her meager earnings to further her education.

Additionally, she dedicates part of her income to supporting her siblings’ educatio to uplift her family despite her own struggles.

Since graduating in 2020, Nekesa has faced numerous setbacks in her job search.

Despite her wholehearted efforts, she is yet to secure formal employment in her field of study.

However, she maintains hope for a brighter future and continues to approach her current job with dedication and optimism.
