Nairobi Secondary School Student Goes Viral For Confessing To Stealing Phones On Highway

A form two student in a Nairobi Secondary School has gone viral after confessing to stealing mobile phones in Githurai.

In the video, the voice of an adult male can be heard questioning the boy who allegedly caught in the act of stealing a phone.

A seemingly shaken teenager explained how he and his schoolmates steal phones and sell to a form four student, who later sells them.

“The price of the phones are in different ranges. The old ones go for about Ksh 1,000 while some smartphones go for Ksh 3,000 and above,” the boy narrated.

He added that they took shifts in stealing. Some stealing in the morning while others in the evening.

“Saturday is the busiest day for us, Sunday, not so much,” he continued.

The boy confessed that their trio only dealt with the stealing of phones, adding that he did not know those who stole vehicles and bicycles.

The adults ended up calling the boy’s parents before the video ended abruptly.

In a press briefing on Thursday, June 18, Education CS George Magoha asked parents to take good care of their children.

Magoha stated; “It’s about time parents took over the control of their children.”

The Education CS was addressing a report circulating on social media indicating that thousands of school girls across the country aged below 19 years had become impregnated between January and May this year.
