Covid-19 Update: Coronavirus Soars As 213 New Cases, 106 Dischaged, 10 Deaths- Total Case 4,257

Kenya has recorded a new high in the number of coronavirus cases with 213 more people testing positive for COVID-19 following the testing of 6,024 samples.

This now brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 4,257.

At the same time, 10 more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus disease raising the number of fatalities recorded so far in the country to 117.

In a press briefing on Thursday, Health  Ministry CAS Dr. Rashid Aman further announced that 106 more patients had been discharged after fully recovering from the disease raising the number of recoveries to 1459.

The new cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi (136) Mombasa (32) Kajiado (13), Kiambu (7), Busia (5) Nakuru (4) Machakos (4), Garissa (3), Isiolo (3), Taita Taveta (2), with Kitui, Migori, Narok, and Embu have one case each.

The 136 cases in Nairobi come from Dagoretti North (36), Westlands (25), Kamukunji (17), Kibra (13) Makadara (11), Starehe (8), Langata (9), Kasarani (6), Embakasi East (4), Embakasi North (3), Ruaraka (3) and Embakasi  Central (1).

In Mombasa, the 32 cases are distributed in Mvita (20), Likono (5), Kisauni (5), and Changamwe (2).

Dr. Aman pointed out that some Kenyans are not adhering to the containment measures hence the high rate of transmission of the disease in areas like Nairobi.

“We have seen that in the past several weeks, people have become lax in terms of observing the measures that we have put out… We have a hidden enemy that is lurking in our midst. We are appealing very strongly to all Kenyans that we are at a stage where we need to be very vigilant and strictly observe those containment measures,” said Dr. Ama
