Kelvin Etemesi scored a brace as Nairobi City Stars rallied from behind to beat AFC Leopards 2-1 in a FKF-PL encounter this evening at the Nyayo Stadium.

The match was played behind closed doors after Leopards was slapped with fan ban over Bukhungu chaos last month.

Leopards were the first to score through Victor Omune in the 17th minute before Etemesi pulled one for City Stars in the 66th minute.

Leopards had a chance stretch their lead in the match through Cliff Nyakeya who blasted his effort wide for the score line to remain the same.

Etemesi doubled City Star’s lead in the 89th minute following a defensive error by Leopard’s full back Washington Munene.

With the victory, City Stars secured safety in the top-flight league as they sit 15th on the league standings with 33 points, 10 points above the relegation-threatened Wazito FC with three matches to go.

Leopards on the other hand remain seventh on the log with 48 points.

Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems rued a number of defensive lapses from his team for the defeat while his counterpart Nicholas Muyoti was impressed by his team’s spirited comeback.
