Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama’s first wife Agnes Kavindu will contest for the Machakos Woman Representative seat in the August 8 General Election.

She is among Jubilee Party candidates who were issued with nomination certificates in Machakos Monday morning.

She hit the headlines in 2014 after she accused Mr Muthama of detaining and maltreating her in an attempt to evict her from their house.

Mr Muthama, a former close ally of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, quit the party last week and declared that he will defend his seat as an independent.
