A senior manager at the troubled Mumias Sugar company has been shot dead. Leonard Joseph Lubya was shot once in the head by gunmen at his Matungulu home in the Western region.
He was shot in the head and was rushed to St Mary’s Mission Hospital in Mumias but succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Western region police chief Moses Ombati on Monday said the attackers went to Mr Rubio’s home at Ingosi Village at 10pm and shot him in his car at close range.
The criminals stole household ‎goods and the family vehicle, a Toyota Harrier, which they used to escape in. Lubya, a seasoned lawyer for various companies had apparently received a call and got out of his house.
He had bought the piece of land where he built the house. He was confronted by three gunmen who shot him in the head and later dragged him to his house where they ransacked for documents and cash. They failed to get money.
