KWPL side to give today’s match a wide berth after spending Sh 120,000 against TransNzoia Falcons

Kayole Starlets, a struggling team in the Women’s Premier League, has decided to skip their today’s match against Kisumu All-Starlets due to the facts that the have already been relegated.

Starlets are currently stuck at the bottom of the log, will see no point in participating in the remaining matches against Thika Queens and Ulinzi Starlets.

Instead, they are focusing on preparing for the next season in the Division One league.

“We made a collective decision with the management not to travel to Kisumu for the match. We have already started planning for next season and our transition to the Division One league. Participating in these matches holds no value for us.” Sakwa told the Star.

Having spent 120,000 shillings to travel to Trans Nzoia Falcons for a match, they feel that they are not getting sufficient returns on their investment.

According to the contract with their sponsors, the remaining matches were meant to be friendly games, which led them to believe that it would be better to conserve resources.

Looking ahead, Sakwa revealed their plans to sign 17 new players, while retaining 13 players from the current squad.

“We are going to sign 17 new players. The coach has said he will retain 13 players from the current squad. We want to mold a team that will be competitive so that we can achieve the target of immediately returning to the top tier,” Sakwa said

To scout new talent, the team will be holding week-long trials starting from May 31.
