Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL), in partnership with the Mukuru Promotion Centre (MPC), has today celebrated the graduation of 27 youth from the Mukuru community under its flagship social investment programme, INUA by KWAL.
INUA by KWAL is a vocational and social impact initiative which addresses youth unemployment by bridging the gap between access to education and economic opportunity. The 2-year programme upskills young adults from vulnerable backgrounds, offering practical hospitality training and globally recognized certifications.
The initiative is powered by a unique collaborative partnership that brings together the Mukuru Promotion Centre (MPC) and leading industry players such as Hilton and the Tamarind Group.
“At KWAL, we believe that a better world is not built in isolation. It is crafted when we bring our unique skills and resources to lift our communities. Our partnership with MPC helps us to realise our purpose, which is to craft the joy of true togetherness to inspire a better future,” said Lina Githuka, Managing Director, KWAL.
“The INUA initiative exists to turn potential into opportunity. Through this partnership, we have created a collective force that equips the youth of Mukuru with the capabilities needed to actively participate in the economy and uplift their families’ livelihoods,” she said.
By investing in industry-aligned vocational training for students who would not otherwise be able to fund their education, KWAL is ensuring enhanced access to inclusive and equitable quality education. The INUA programme provides relevant, effective learning outcomes and sustainable livelihoods for underserved youth, advancing the Sustainable Development Goals of Quality Education and access to Decent Work and Economic Growth.
The 2026 Graduation marks a remarkable milestone: 100% of the graduating cohort transitioned into industry internships, with over 40% (11 graduates) already securing permanent employment in the hospitality sector.
Launched as a 2-year training programme, the INUA Programme sees students undergo a comprehensive programme that includes formal certification as well as practical experience. Following the successful conclusion of the programme, students are placed into hands-on apprenticeship programs with a variety of hotels, proving the power of private-sector collaborations in tackling youth unemployment.
“Institutions like MPC serve as a critical bridge between vulnerable communities and opportunity. Partners like KWAL, who invest in education and vocational training, help us unlock talent that might otherwise go unnoticed, contributing to sustainable development where it is needed most,” said Sister Mary Kileen, Director, Mukuru Promotion Centre.
KWAL remains committed to fostering inclusive economic growth and social cohesion in Kenya through sustainable community partnerships that align with its purpose, as part of its Care for People corporate promise.
