South African couple; Hector Mkansi and his fiancé Nonhlanhla Soldaat who became an internet sensation a few months ago after their Kentucky Fried Chicken(KFC) engagement went viral, in December 31 tied the knot in a luxurious, dreamy wedding.

The newlyweds who are still in disbelief over the support accorded to them, exchanged vows for the second time in an all-expenses-paid wedding courtesy of well-wishers and brands across South Africa not to forget celebrities such as Mafikizolo who graced the couple’s reception and entertained their guests.

“We are still in disbelief, both of us have to ask each other if this is really happening from time to time. We couldn’t be more grateful to God and every single person that has shared in our little love story,” said Mkansi during an interview with CNN.

Proposal

In the engagement video uploaded on twitter, Mkansi is seen going on one knee at a South African Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) joint and proposing to his fiancé Nonhlanhla who at this time was overwhelmed with tears of joy.

Not everyone was impressed by his proposal. A section of online users attacked and mocked him for being too broke to give his fiancé a proper proposal

“SA men are so broke, they even propose at KFC. They have absolutely no class, I mean who proposes at KFC?”  Wrote one user by the name Anele.

Blessings in disguise

KFC immediately came to their rescue and asked the public to help them identify the couple as they wanted to give the two their dream KFC wedding.

“Thank you, South Africa. Your kindness has truly warmed us. We would have never imagined that our love story would have touched so many of you. While we appreciate the support, we ask that you please give us a moment to take it all in. We will let you know about our plans around the wedding,” wrote KFC.

Soon after, companies like Audi, Lexus, and a few airlines extended their generosity to treat the couple with the services. Standard Bank SA, in particular, promised to offset both their loans.

“We didn’t want to steal the happy couple’s shine but since some of you have asked, we’d like to offer them a clean slate. Over & above imvula mlomo, we’ll clear their personal loans up to R300k & if they’re with us we’ll clear it all! No need for skoloto!” they wrote.

Well-wishers also chipped in offering spa appointments among others.
