Two rugby players Alex Olaba and Frank Wanyama to serve 15 years in jail for gang-raping a musician in Nairobi on February 2018.

Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku convicted the two Kenyan rugby players for gang-raping last week.

The two said they regretted the incident and pleaded with the court for a non-custodial sentence.

Their lawyer Jimmy Simiyu, Olaba is 23 years old, Wanyama 22 and the complainant 24, and they had not planned to meet her at her birthday party that night.

According to the lawyer, the three were drunk and the woman opted to spend the night at Seefar Apartments in Highrise, Nairobi, after getting drunk.

Simuyu further told the court that the players were from humble backgrounds and that the complainant had tried to extort money from them.
