Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto on Wednesday stormed a doctors’ meeting that was being held at Fair Hill Hotel. The Governor was accompanied by a group of rowdy youths who proceeded to rough up the doctors.

Reports claimed that after a confrontation with the doctors, the Governor drew out his gun. However, the Governor has denied drawing out his gun, saying that he is not licensed to carry a gun.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists’ Union (KPMDU) officials included the union’s national secretary-general Ouma Oluga, chairman Samuel Oroko, the South Rift branch secretary-general Davji Atela and Bomet County union representatives, all numbering 15.

Radio reporters, Hillary Mutai (Kass FM) and Isaiah Kiplangat (Kongasis FM), who had attempted to take photographs at the time, were also roughed up during the melee.
