Gor Mahia makes major signings as Vihiga Bullets sign 19 new players in desperate bid to avoid relegation

The FKF Premier League is the top professional football league in Kenya, sanctioned by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). The league features 18 teams from across the country, with each team playing 34 matches per season, which runs from August to May.

The league has seen some exciting mid-season transfers, with clubs trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season. Vihiga Bullets, Sofapaka, Gor Mahia, Bandari FC, Bidco United FC, Kakamega Homeboyz FC, Kariobangi Sharks FC, KCB FC, and Kenya Police FC all made moves during the January-March transfer window.

Vihiga Bullets, which currently sits at the bottom of the league table, was the most active team during the transfer window, bringing in 19 new players. The team signed players from various clubs, including Kakamega Homeboyz, Kona Rangers, APS Bomet, and Kisumu Hot Stars. The team hopes to turn its fortunes around in the second half of the season and avoid relegation.

Sofapaka was the second most active team, signing 15 players from Kariobangi Sharks, Gor Mahia, Kibera Black Stars, and Fortune Sacco, among others. The team is currently in sixth place and hopes to climb up the table with its new signings.

Gor Mahia, one of the most successful teams in the league, had its FIFA ban lifted and wasted no time in signing eight players from Kakamega Homeboyz, Kitara FC (Uganda), URA FC (Uganda), Saif Sporting Club (Bangladesh), and Bongonaya FC. The team also promoted three players from Gor Mahia Youth. With these new signings, Gor Mahia hopes to defend its title and compete in the CAF Champions League.

Bandari FC signed five new players, including Amos Asembeka from Wazito FC, Joseph Irungu from Sofapaka FC, and Shassiri Nahimana from Bumamuru FC in Burundi. The team currently sits in ninth place and hopes to make a push for the top four with these new signings.

Bidco United FC only made one signing, Jacob Onyango from Ulinzi Stars FC. The team hopes that the former Ulinzi Stars player will help them climb up the table and avoid relegation.

Kakamega Homeboyz FC made a total of 12 transfers, signing Dennis Sikhayi from Wazito FC, Kevin Amayi from Kona Rangers FC, and Enock Masinza and Vincent Ogolla from Vihiga Bullets FC. The team also renewed the contract of Abdalla Wankuru. Kakamega Homeboyz currently sits in seventh place and hopes to finish in the top four with these new signings.

Kariobangi Sharks FC signed two new players, Sebastianos Wekesa from APS Bomet FC and Steve Omollo from Green Commandos FC. The team is currently in eighth place and hopes to climb up the table with these new signings.

KCB FC signed five new players, including Musa Masika from Mombasa Elite FC, Erickson Mulu from Wazito FC, and Apollo Otienu from Tusker FC. The team currently sits in third place and hopes to compete for the title with these new signings.

Kenya Police FC signed two new players, Abud Khamis from JKT Tanzania FC and James Kibande from Kibera Black Stars FC. The team is currently in 14th place and hopes to avoid relegation with these new signings.
