EXCLUSIVE: Twahir Muhiddin survives Bandari purge

Coach Twahir Muhiddin is expected to survive the purge that Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Bandari is set to undertake.

The Dockers, against their own and their fans’ expectations, have been disappointed for several seasons given that they have merely participated rather than competed in the Premier League and in domestic competitions.

Now, Bandari plan to undertake a serious purge during the transfer window, and the technical bench will comprise newcomers.

Muhiddin is tipped to be appointed as the permanent coach, and Yusuf Ndere, who formerly worked at Congo Boys, is being lined up to deputise the former Harambee Stars head coach.

Jerry Onyango, a Premier League winner with Gor Mahia, is expected to assume the role of goalkeeper’s coach.

Muhiddin has been acting on a temporary basis since the club parted ways with Anthony Modo Kimani following a defeat by AFC Leopards in the FKF Cup. Initially, Muhiddin was expected to leave and pave the way for a newcomer, and that now looks impossible.

Francis Kimanzi, Patrick Aussems of AFC Leopards, and Tusker’s Robert Matano had been tipped to take over the Dockers, but they appear to have changed their minds about appointing a new coach.

Meanwhile, apart from the purge on the technical bench, reports indicate that the playing unit will also see several players released. It is reported that up to 15 players will be released in order to create space for the new ones.

Bandari are under a new board that has expressed its desire to make the Mbaraki-based club a competitive outfit and to achieve that, some changes will be made at the club before the next campaign begins.
