Doctors have rejected a pay offer by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Speaking to the media on Friday, the doctors said they’d only return to work once their full pay demands are fully met.

Through their body, Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), the doctors said they will continue with the strike until the 2013 collective bargaining agreement is implemented.

In the salary the government offered the doctors earlier in the week, the least-paid doctor was set to start earning a a monthly salary of Sh. 196,989 from Sh. 140,244.

The rejection will now see the on-going doctors strike continue to paralyze major operations at government hospitals across the country.
