Kenya has recorded 148 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours with Mombasa county recording the most cases among the counties with 40.
In a statement to newsrooms on Friday, September 18, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe disclosed that the country’s total caseload had risen to 36,724.
2,438 samples had been tested over the period bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 511,614.
Of the positive cases, all are Kenyans except three who are foreigners.
105 are male and 43 are female while the youngest case is a two-year-old and the oldest is aged 75.
At the same time, 98 patients were discharged, 46 from home-based care, and 52 from hospitals across the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 23,709.
Regrettably, four patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 646.
In the distribution of the cases by counties, Mombasa led with 40, Nairobi was second with 32 cases, Laikipia 15, Kiambu 11, Nakuru 7, Embu 7, Uasin Gishu 6, Kajiado 6.
Taita Taveta and Kisumu counties had 5 cases each. Kitui 4, Trans Nzoia 3, Baringo 1, Elgeyo Marakwet 1, Kwale 1, Machakos 1, Kericho 1, Makueni 1 and Murang’a 1.
In terms of sub-county distribution, the 40 cases in Mombasa were reported from Mvita (14), Kisauni (11), Likoni (5), Nyali (4), Changamwe and Jomvu had three cases each.
In Nairobi, the 32 cases are from Westlands (6), Embakasi East (4), Lang’ata and Starehe (3) cases each, Dagoretti North, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Kasarani and Ruaraka (2) cases each.
Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central, Embakasi North, Kibra, Makadara and Roysambu had (1) case each.
