The Ministry of Health on Saturday, July 4, confirmed 389 new cases of Covid-19 in the country, bringing total cases recorded so far to 7,577.
In a statement to newsrooms, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe noted that the new cases were recorded from 4,289 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total samples tested in the country to 185,035.
All, except three of the positive cases, are Kenyans.
266 of the positive cases are males while 123 are females with the youngest being a 1-year-old and the oldest 93 years.
It was announced that 88 patients had been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,236.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Kenya rose to 159 after five more fatalities were confirmed.
“From the statistics, it is indicative that we have lost too many lives already. We cannot afford to lose any more. We must, therefore, as a nation, renew our commitment to observing the containment measures, without which, this disease could easily overrun our healthcare facilities,” CS Kagwe noted.
Nairobi county is leading with 248 cases, Kajiado 36, Kiambu 27, Mombasa 23, Busia 17 Machakos 10, and Migori 9. Kitui reported 6 new cases, Makueni 3, Uasin Gishu 3, Nakuru 2, Kilifi 2, Garissa1, Muranga 1, and Narok 1 case.
Nairobi cases are in Dagoretti North 55, Kibra 40, Langata 33, Ruaraka 17, Westlands 14, Embakasi East 13, Makadara 13, Roysambu, 11, Embakasi South and Kasarani 8 cases each, Mathare, Starehe, Embakasi Central, and Embakasi West, 7, cases each, Embakasi North 5 and Kamukunji 3.
Mombasa cases are from; Mvita, (9), Nyali (6), Jomvu, (3), Likoni, (2), Kisauni, (2), and Changamwe, one case.
Busia cases are from; Teso North, (12) and Matayos, (5) while Machakos County 10 cases are in; Athi River, (8), and Matangulu (2).
Kajiado County cases are from; Kajiado Central 32, Kajiado East & Kajiado North, (2) cases each.
Kiambu county cases are in; Kiambaa, Kikuyu, and Ruiru (6) cases each, Kabete and Kiambu town, (4) cases each and Thika Town, one case.
All the cases in Migori county were reported in Kuria West while Kitui county cases were all from Kitui West.
In Makueni county, Makueni Town reported (2), and one case in Kibwezi East while in Uasin Gishu, all the (3) cases were from Ainabkoi.
Nakuru cases were from Nakuru East one, and Nakuru West, one. Cases in Kilifi were in Kaloleni (1) and Kilifi North (1).
Garissa had one case in Daadab while Murang’a county case was in Kihara and Narok’s one case in Narok North.
