125 patients were released from the hospital with 656 on home-based care.

Regrettably, five patients have succumbed to the disease bring the total number of fatalities to 418.

CS Kagwe commended Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya for the measures taken to improve health services.

The governor set up the Mumias Level 4 Hospital which is being used as a Covid-19 treatment center has successfully treated over 14 Covid-19 patients.

He further warned residents against dismissing measures announced by the government.

“We have been accused of talking to Kenyans as if they are retarded; tumetukanwa (we have been insulted). Kenyans do not have to die, this is a condition we can control. We can manage ourselves,” he stated.

The CS shared a scenario that led to a family getting infected because of not taking precautions laid out to contain the spread of the virus.

“I received news that a son was tested and turned positive for coronavirus but refused to acknowledge the results.

“His refusal to self-isolate had his sister and parents infected. He has now lost the head of the family, two weeks after they lost and buried the mother,” he narrated.
