Covid-19 Update: 65 New Cases, 77 Recovered, 3 Deaths- Total no of Cases 99, 277

Nairobi continues to lead in confirmed Covid-19 cases according to a report released by the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Monday, January 18, 2021.

MoH announced that 65 people had tested positive from a sample size of 2,681 examined over the last 24 hours. This takes the country’s total caseload to 99,227.

49 of the positive cases are Kenyans while 16 are foreign nationals. 39 are males while 26 are females with the youngest being a 12-year-old child and the oldest aged, 92 years. The cumulative test in the country now stands at 1,128,360.

Nairobi recorded 53 cases, Kajiado 3, Mombasa 2, Kitui 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Machakos 1, Kakamega 1, and Murang’a 1.

77 patients were discharged after recovering from the virus taking the total recoveries in the country to 82,427. 60 patients were from the Home Based isolation and care program and 17 from various health facilities across the country.

Sadly, 3 more patients succumbed to the virus taking the cumulative fatalities in the country from Covid-19 to 1,734.

“Our condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their loved ones,” Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe condoled.

Currently, there are 697 patients admitted to various health facilities across the country while 1,680 are Home Based Isolation and Care. 28 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 of whom are on ventilatory support and 12 on supplemental oxygen. 3 are under observation.

Another 11 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 10 of them in general wards. 1 patient is in the High Dependency Unit.
