Covid-19 Update: 353 New Cases, 296 Discharged, 10 Deaths- Total no of Cases 32,118

Kenya has recorded 355 more COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of cases in the country to 32,118.

A statement signed by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Saturday, August 22, indicated that 5,724 samples were tested in the same period of time bringing the total samples tested so far to 417,804.

Of the 355 cases tested, 213 are male and 142 are female while the youngest case is a 2-year-old and the oldest is aged 81 years.

In terms of distribution by counties, Nairobi is still leading with 118 cases.

Distribution in other counties is as follows; Mombasa 25, Nakuru 25, Kiambu 23, Kajiado 20, Migori 20, Machakos 18, Lamu 15, Kisumu 9, Narok 9, Laikipia 9, Homabay 7, Busia 6, Bomet 6, Taita Taveta 5, Kitui 5, Kericho 5, Garissa 4, Uasin Gishu 4, Murang’a 4, Kirinyaga 4, Kisii 3, Samburu 2 as Vihiga, Marsabit, Meru, Kwale, Kilifi, Embu, Nandi, Nyandarua and Tana River recorded a case each.

At the same time, 296 patients have been discharged from hospital bringing the total number of recovered cases to 18,453.

202 are from the home-based program and 94 are from various hospitals.

Regrettably, 10 more patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of fatalities to 542.

Meanwhile, operations at the Nandi County Assembly were suspended after one of the Members of County Assembly, tested positive for COVID-19.

County Assembly Speaker Joshua Kiptoo disclosed that Tinderet Ward MCA Kipkurui Chepkwony tested positive for the virus and immediately self-isolated.

All members of staff will have to undergo mandatory testing.
