Covid-19 Update: 263 New Cases, 98 Dicharged, 2 Deaths – Total no of Cases 34,064

Kenya has recorded 263 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of cases in Kenya to 34,067.

A statement released by the Ministry of Health on Sunday, August 30, indicated that 4,424 samples had been tested over the same period bringing total samples tested so far to 450,146

Of the 246 cases tested, 180 are male and 83 are female while the youngest case is a one-year-old infant and the oldest is aged 83 years

At the same time, 98 patients have been discharged from hospital bringing the total recoveries to 19,688.

Regrettably, two patients succumbed to the disease bring the total death toll to 574.

From the cases, 259 are Kenyans while 4 are foreigners.

Nairobi lead with 81cases followed by Kiambu 26, Embu 20, Makueni 18, Nakuru 15, Nyeri 13, Taita Taveta 10, Busia 10, Mombasa 9, Garissa 8, Kajiado 7, Kisii 6, Kitui 6 and Tana River 5.

Others were Migori 4, Machakos 3, Lamu 3, Narok 3, Kisumu 2, Baringo 2, Bomet 2, Laikipia 2, Meru 2, Murang’a 2, Siaya 1, Vihiga 1, Isiolo 1 and Kilifi 1.

The 81 cases in Nairobi were recorded in, Langata and Starehe (9) cases each, Kibra and Makadara (8) cases each while Embakasi West (7), Embakasi East, Embakasi South and Roysambu had 5 cases each.

Other areas including Dagoretti North, Kasarani and Westlands had 4 cases each as Dagoretti South and Embakasi North recorded 3 cases each. Embakasi Central, Mathare and Ruaraka had 2 cases each and Kamukunji (1).

This comes even as the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), in which more than Ksh43 billion is said to have  been misappropriated, continues to shake the country.

Health PS Susan Mochache is the latest official to be summoned by the National Assembly Committee after KEMSA CEO Jonah Manjari connected her as well as Health CS Mutahi Kagwe to the scandal.
