Popular content creator Kennedy Kabugi has announced his intention to vie for a political seat in the upcoming 2027 elections. Kabugi, known for his engaging online content, is yet to decide which position he will contest.
“2027 I will be on the ballot watu wa Sijasettle bado (I haven’t decided yet on which seat) but I must be on the ballot,” Kabugi declared, reflecting his commitment to enter the political arena.
In a similar vein, Ivy Chelimo, famously known for coining the nickname “Riggy G” for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has also expressed her political ambitions. Chelimo plans to run for the Nandi Senator or Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat. In an interview, she stated, “I want to vie for Nandi senator/MCA in 2027. It’s something I want to do.” Chelimo looks up to Gladys Boss Shollei for inspiration, admiring her eloquence and education.
Daniel Ndambuki, better known as Churchill, the founder of the Churchill Show, was also asked about his political aspirations. He responded by emphasizing his current focus on giving back to the community through the Churchill Foundation. “For now, I think I am serving well in the position I am in, giving back to the community through the Churchill Foundation. When the time comes, Yarabi stara, but for now there is so much to do in terms of nurturing talent,” Churchill stated.
With these announcements, the 2027 elections are shaping up to be an interesting mix of personalities from the entertainment industry venturing into politics. Both Kabugi and Chelimo could bring fresh perspectives and a significant following that could influence their political journeys.
